Locked in a room with hard, invisible walls, a place of the soul and of habit. Through the keyhole waft the decadent perfumes and black and white colours of a deliberately sought-after segregation and an extreme, dangerous relationship.
Two people alone, yet so close as to seem one, joined like Siamese twins with the past glued to their hearts and music by Mozart creeping under their skin.
Pathetic in their search for one another beneath the weight of real, concise pains.
The obligation to live, the inescapable duty of loving.
Architects of the body or executioners of space, sleeping beauties or beasts in waiting play at the drama of habit when the chance to exist becomes normality and real life seems more dreamlike and incomprehensible than dreams.
Michele Abbondanza
The work grew out of a study of the painter Wainer Vaccari, in particular of his painting Per Terra. Conceived for a small space (4x4m), it has maintained its quality as a “chamber dance”. Studio di un interno was also the preparatory work nucleus for Mozart Hotel.
